The Woodbury County Fair Board is pleased to recognize the efforts of former Fair Manager, Dave Amick. Dave was first elected to the Woodbury County Fair Board of Directors in 1987 where he served until 2006. He then was hired as the Fair Manager serving in that capacity until 2012 with secretaries Gloria Zook and Kathy Tabke. Dave was known for his calm demeanor and drive for a family-oriented fair. He saw the value in organizing volunteers to continue to expand the educational and hands-on experience of fairgoers. He also oversaw several improvements to the building and grounds; most notably the storm shelter. Dave’s love of the fair was sparked early when he worked in the Elliot Creek Presbyterian Church food stand as a child. He and his family are still members and can be found working in that stand serving hamburgers, ice cream and homemade pies each year. Dave was involved in law enforcement from December of 1975 through his retirement in 2004, serving 12 of those years as Woodbury County Sheriff. He also went on to serve three terms as Mayor of Bronson. Dave spent countless hours serving others, and we are especially thankful for his service to our fair.
